What's the magic word?

We are working on manners with Maddie.  Mostly "please" and "thank you."  We were having dinner the other night and had already done a few rounds of "What do you say?" and "What's the magic word?" She dutifully rephrased the question to add "please" each time.

Then this happened:

Maddie: "I want pepper." [We don't really put pepper on her food. She just likes to do what we do, so we pretend.]

Me: "Maddie, what's the magic word?"

Maddie: "PEPPER!"

Um, yeah.  Can't wait for her to be a teenager.
